Stay connected with your clients in 2020
As we minimise face-to-face contact with our clients, we have found new ways to deliver our services while still feeling connected. Here are some of the key actions recommended for maintaining your small business client base and staying virtually connected in 2020.
1. Refresh your online presence
Did you know that a website should undergo an update every three years? Outside of visual aesthetics, website maintenance encourages fast page loading, performance updates, security, and creates an opportunity to re-jig your site map – all the elements that make your website user friendly and easy to navigate for your clients.
Once you have fine-tuned the back end of the website, it’s time to look at your content. If your last blog was published more than two months ago your website can appear dated. If you want to comfort your customers and assure them that it’s “business as usual”, keep producing regular content. By updating your blog (or sending e-newsletters) with business updates, your clients will have a trusted space where they can unite, learn and continue to feel connected with your business.
2. Explore new ways of communication
Staying in business in 2020 is all about being flexible. We now live in a world where Zoom and Facetime have replaced the need for many face-to-face meetings. While this may not be the most comfortable form of communication for you and your clients, attempting to maintain contact and continuing to provide a premium service to your clients is vital for your business.
If virtual meetings still feel daunting, here is a step-by-step guide to setting up, inviting and connecting via Zoom. It also discusses how to ensure these virtual meeting rooms remain “locked” to ensure confidentiality for your clients. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rr2kCzz3Qls
3. Address changes openly and regularly
If you have not yet published or sent out a communication regarding COVID-19 it may appear that you’re not adapting to the current climate for your clients. By acknowledging a new way of working, your business will appear more personable, and active in your communication strategy – which is comforting for your clients. It also highlights your ability to adapt in an evolving landscape. Be open, be honest and acknowledge how the current climate is affecting your clients.
There you have it, three easy ways to stay connected in 2020. Utilise your website, adapt to virtual communication platforms, and acknowledge the changes your clients may be facing.
